A few years ago at Valley Forge Christian College author and teacher Leonard Sweet spoke about Philippians 4. The way he summarized verses 6 and 7 have stuck with me ever since.
Here are the verses:
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
He made it something like a mathmatical equation. It looks like this:
Anxious for nothing + Prayerful for anything + Thankful for everything = Peace of God
Maybe that doesn't seem profound or earth-shattering to you, because it's not all that complicated.
It's simple...
...but it's not always easy.
Still, if you can get yourself to actually put into practice what it says, it's incredibly powerful. No matter what storm in which you find yourself, peace is available to you. I know its true in Afghanistan, and it's true where you are too.
Grace and peace to you.

Hi Son!
Great formula for peace. Who is that soldier in that neat uniform. I believe he belongs to two armies. To the greatest Army in the world, (AMERICA) and the to GREATEST ARMY OF THE UNIVERSE, THE KINGDON OF GOD. We are so proud of you Son. Love you----DAD
